That mermaid print from summer 21 is still one of my favorites and my biggest regret not buying for myself! My girls have outgrown theirs now and here I am, still thinking about it 🧜🏽♀️
I love hearing this behind-the-scenes story! I remember the excitement surrounding this drop, and still love so many of my pieces from it. The Desk Sweater and Lucky Scarf are underrated styles!
All credit to you, your CX, and marketing teams (maybe all 3 people of you at the time? haha) on a plan that is so straightforward and honest, but enacting at many companies is like pulling teeth. Brava.
NELL! This is an incredible story. I can’t wait to read more of your writing and hear the stories behind Hill House 🤍🤍🤍. Fun fact: I launched my podcast on substack live two weeks ago and on the first episode I wore my pink hill house nap dress. It’s the ultimate “everything dress” that makes me feel confident no matter what I’m doing. I would LOVE to host you on my podcast and tell more stories like this one (my niche is mindset and I can’t imagine the mindset it would take to navigate experiences like this running your business). Let me know if you’re interested in guesting!
As a small apparel business owner, I found this so inspiring to read! I really appreciate the honest behind-the-scenes glimpse—it’s refreshing and a great reminder that even more established brands with bigger teams or resources, etc. have real moments behind the curtain. You handled it all with such grace!
I remember all of this, and I placed an order from this Summer drop! I STILL love it all so much, and the Mermaid hoodie will forever be a fave. I also remember how well all of the communication was handled! I think that the transparency helped so much, and I still have a love for HHH launch days!!!
Loved this behind the scenes story of Hill House! The brand has such a beautiful and perfect online image, but it is endearing to hear about the growing pains and stressful moments!
Thank you for sharing and an amazing story! We had a similar experience (not $4.2M) but close to $600k in 2 days and we were overwhelmed and the perception is that you are so much bigger than you really are.- my kids were making boxes, everyone is on customer service and you feel pressure to act like you have it all together. Love seeing other female founders crushing it! Congrats. ps we no longer launch unless product in hand also:)
